Above is a poster I finished this week for the Coterie Theatre for their upcoming play Ben Franklin's Apprentice. We went through a several directions, but the top one is the final.
The play is a snapshot into the period of Ben Franklin's life when he was exploring the power of lightning and its connection to electricity. He finds a boy being mistreated (electrocuted, actually) in a magician's street show, and rescues him. The boy becomes his apprentice, and when Ben faces opposition from the church and his family for his irreverent experiments, the boy's energy and shared enthusiasm for science and invention spurs Ben on, leading to the invention of the lightning rod.
