Ceramics Stuff

In June, I started my rotation at work with the Blink Studio. We were given an assignment to do some experimenting with ceramics for Christmas and Everyday product. It was so much fun to work in clay and use my hands after being so accustomed to my computer. An amazing woman named Carol heads up the ceramics studio at Hallmark, and she walked us through how to realize our ideas in clay. Here are some pictures of the pieces I made:

This is a set of hot chocolate mugs I did based on my Christmas card last year...which listed all my favorite things about Christmas. They have little saucers to go with them.

Mr. Snow was the first thing I attempted and quickly became the bane of my existence. The orange glaze on his nose bled a little bit in the kiln...or I didn't quite put it on precisely enough. I really didn't like him too much but he has grown on me a bit because he looks like marshmallows.

This little plate has my mom's favorite quote by Mother Teresa: We can do no great things. Only small things with great love.

Love plaque.

I did this set by painting the lettering on with glaze. It was challenging because the lettering was so thin and I had to get two coats of the glaze. You can see some of the finer lines drop out because I didn't get enough glaze coated on there. I love these though, and I'm excited to use them!
